Arriving in Cardiff on Saturday, we stayed at the very lovely Beaufort Guest House on Cathedral Road.

On Sunday morning, we set out to explore the family sites in Cardiff. Here, my mom stands in front of her grandfather's home on Wordsworth Avenue.

Tredegarville Baptist Church is the parish to which my great-grandparents belonged before they left Wales for the States.

My great grandmother wrote fondly of Mumbles light house, so a journey to there & Swansea on Sunday was in order.

My mother and sister pose in front of the Mumbles light house at the Mumbles Pier.
The Mumbles Pier is an odd collection of buildings and sights, including these railings that moan loudly in the stiff Welsh winds.

After leaving Mumbles, we searched for family sites in Llanelli. By chance, we stumbled upon the Zion Baptist, the church of my great-great-grandpa.
In Kidwelly, the town in which my great grandfather was born, we came upon the very cool St. Mary's Church.

Lady Street in Kidwelly is the street on which my great-grandfater (and namesake) was born.

The city's symbol, what I like to call the Kidwelly Kitty.

My great-grandfather always said that he was born in the shadow of Kidwelly Castle. We were pleased to find out that this was essentially true.

Back in Cardiff, we spent Monday morning strolling Bute Park, City Hall, and the University. Cardiff Castle rises above fall colors in the distance.

Statues abound in Cardiff, as in most larger European cities. This handsome bronze marks the war in Africa.

After strolling Cardiff on Monday morning, we headed to eastern Wales to visit one of Steph's favorite places, Tintern Abbey.

The abbey is a truly amazing ruin.

After a visit to Chepstow and a long, wandering drive through the countryside, we found Kingcoed, the home of my great-great-grandmother.
